Professional Maintenance and Certification

Ongoing Requirements for the BCE Program

Once an individual becomes a BCE they are required to submit a tri-annual report to the ESA Certification Coordinator. This report includes a list of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) that prove they have continued with their entomological training and are staying current in the field. The report is called the Professional Maintenance and Certification Report (PM&C) and covers the preceding three years’ education. The report is due on March 31st of the year following the third year covered in the report (e.g., a report due on March 31st, 2017 would cover 2014, 2015, and 2016).

There are 2 ways to submit PM&C report.

The report is due on December 31st and should be received no later than March 31st of the year following the third year covered in the report (e.g., a report that covered the years 2014, 2015, and 2016 would be due 12.31.2016 and should be received no later than 3.31.2017).

For new BCEs, if you were certified in the first half of a year, your "start date" for accumulating continuing education units (CEUs) would be January 1st of that year. If you were certified in the second half of the year, your start date for CEUs would be January 1st of the following year.

Your report should be submitted prior to the March 31st due date.

Your PM&C report should be submitted using the online form (linked above) or to bce@entsoc.org.  If you must submit the report in writing, please mail to the following address:

BCE-Administrative Recertification option:
For BCEs whose job duties have become more administrative and less applied, there is an option to convert to BCE-Administrative. The requirements to renew are the same, but the composition and types of CEUs required vary. Click here for more information.
