Insect Expo

The Entomological Foundation hosted more than 2,500 students during the Insect Expo held on September 28 during ICE 2016. The kids participated in activities including holding live insects, painting with termites, spitting crickets and eating fried meal worms! Myron Philip Zalucki

Myron Philip Zalucki (Australia), born in 1954. He completed his first degree, a BSc with first class honours in Zoology, from the Australian National University in 1976 and his Ph.D. in 1982, at Griffith University, Brisbane. Joined the then Department of Entomology at the University of Queensland in 1981 as a part time temporary lecturer and "rose through the ranks" to full Professor in 2001.

Charles Vincent

Charles Vincent (Canada) born in 1953. He completed a B.Sc. in Agriculture at Université Laval (Quebec City, Canada), a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. (1983) in Entomology at McGill University (Montreal, Canada). Since 1983, he worked as an entomologist for the Horticultural Research and Development Center (Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada) at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. In 1984, he has been appointed adjunct professor at the Macdonald Campus of McGill University.

Joop C. van Lanteren

Joop C. van Lenteren (Netherlands) born in 1945 is Emeritus Professor of Entomology at Wageningen University. He graduated with honours in Ecology and Plant Anatomy from Leiden University and received a Ph.D. from the same university in behavioural and population ecology.

Thomas W. Scott

Thomas W. Scott (United States) born in 1950 is Distinguished Professor at the University of California at Davis. He received his PhD in ecology from the Pennsylvania State University, was a post-doctoral fellow in epidemiology at the Yale School of Medicine, and was a faculty member in the Department of Entomology, University of Maryland before relocating in 1996 to the Department of Entomology, University of California at Davis.

Dmitry L. Musolin

Dmitry L. Musolin (Russia) born in 1970 is Associate Professor of Department of Forest Protection, Wood Science and Game Management and Director of Department of Advanced Training and Graduate Studies at Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University, Saint Petersburg (Russia). He received his BSc degree in Forestry from the Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical Academy, MSc degree in Environmental Sciences and Policy from the Central European University (Budapest, Hungary) and PhD degree in Entomology from the Saint Petersburg State University (Russia) in 1997.

Shu-Sheng Liu

Shu-Sheng Liu (China) born in 1955 is Distinguished University Professor at Zhejiang University and Deputy President of the Academic Committee of Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. He did his undergraduate study at Hunan Agricultural University (1974-1977) and his postgraduate study at the then Zhejiang Agricultural University (1978-1980). He then went to Australia and did his PhD study at CSIRO Entomology (1980-1984), and obtained his PhD in Zoology from the Australian National University in 1984.

Walter S. Leal

Walter S. Leal (USA) born in 1954 is Distinguished Professor at the University of California-Davis (UC Davis), Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. He is former professor and chair of the UC Davis Department of Entomology. Leal received his BEng in chemical engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, MSc in agricultural chemisty from Mie University, Japan, and PhD in applied biochemistry from Tsukuba University, Japan.
