This award honors a student transition or early professional member working within the field of entomology who has demonstrated excellence in all the major aspects of intellectual life, including research, extension, teaching and outreach. The candidate will have made outstanding contributions to entomology, shown commitment to extension or outreach, and excelled in entomological education. The recipient will receive complimentary registration to the PBESA Annual Meeting and an award plaque.
This award recognizes the successful efforts of a small collaborative team of entomologists to achieve outstanding accomplishments in research and education. A team is defined as no more than 10 members, and documentation of achievements in both research and education (university and K-12 teaching, extension, and other types of outreach) must be included.
The awardee must have accumulated an outstanding record in mentoring of graduate and/or undergraduate students in the field of entomology. Accomplishments in student recruitment, advising, and training will be evaluated.
This award will be given to an individual with outstanding accomplishments in the study of insect interrelationships with plants. Emphases can include behavioral, ecological, and evolutionary relationships in natural or human-manipulated landscapes, as well as integrated pest management (IPM) in agriculture, horticulture, forests, and lawns and gardens. Aspects of crop protection, host-plant response, plant pathology/vectors, pollination, biological control, microbial control, and related topics are relevant.
The awardee must have developed an excellent record of accomplishment in one of the sub-disciplines of medical, urban, or veterinary entomology. Studies may have focused on forensic entomology, epidemiology, integrated disease management, human and veterinary parasitology, public health pest management, mosquito control, management of structural pests (e.g., termites, ants), and other related topics.
