iNaturalist BioBlitz
iNaturalist is a popular app for citizen scientists to record, share, and identify different flora and fauna worldwide. To learn more about the amazing Pacific Northwest, the Student Affairs Committee is hosting a BioBlitz during the ESA Annual Meeting!
Open to ALL members at the Annual Meeting, but only student members will be eligible to win a prize.
How to participate
Step 1: Sign up for iNaturalist. If you already have an account, skip to Step 2. To set up an account, you can do so in one of two ways:
- Visit the website here: https://www.inaturalist.org/home and create an account.
- Download either the “iNaturalist” or “iNaturalist Classic” apps from the app store, and follow the directions to create an account.
Step 2: Join the #EntSoc25 project
- All observations need to be included in the project “#EntSoc25”, which will be easiest to join by following this link: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/entsoc25
- Joining the project will automatically collect any observations you submit during the conference.
Step 3: Capture observations!
- An ‘observation’ is a photo or audio recording of any living organism that is submitted to iNaturalist.
- Prizes will be awarded to the student members with the highest number of observations and the most species observed (as tallied by iNaturalist).
