Parliamentarian, ESA Eastern Branch
The Parliamentarian is a consultant who advises the President, other officers, committees, and members on matters of parliamentary procedure. The Parliamentarian's role during a meeting is purely an advisory and consultative one.
Office of the President-Elect, ESA Eastern Branch
Update the guidelines for the Chairs of Standing and Ad hoc Committees, being consistent with the Constitution and Bylaws. Solicit comments/suggestions from current Officers and Chairs by three months before Annual Meeting (February). Complete revisions prior to the Annual Meeting so guidelines can be given to incoming Officers and Chairs at the final Executive Committee/Committee Chair meeting at the Annual Meeting site.
Office of the Past President, ESA Eastern Branch
Serves as a member of the Executive Committee.
Serves as Chair of the Awards Committee (see separate guidelines for this committee).
The Member-at-Large on the Executive Committee shall attend the Annual and mid-winter meetings of the Executive Committee, and other such meetings as may be necessary. The responsibilities of the Executive Committee are outlined in Article IV of the Constitution and Article II of the Bylaws, and consist of accepting responsibility for the conduct of the business affairs of the Branch.
New Text (September 91)
The Bylaws, Article IV, Section 11, state that the Chair shall be appointed for a three year term and shall serve as Eastern Branch member on the Membership Committee of the parent Society. This appointment is made by Presidents assuming office at Annual Meeting in 1993, 1996, 1999. The Committee shall consist of at least 14 members representing each of the Branch States and Canada and a wide range of entomological interests, and including at least one student member.
The primary charge of this committee is to make recommendations to the Executive Committee on suitable meeting sites for future Eastern Branch Annual Meetings. These recommendations are usually made and acted upon three years in advance of the meeting. Potential sites are normally presented and discussed at the planning meeting.
Assist President-Elect in choosing a committee that is representative of all of the entomological disciplines (approximately 6). This will be especially beneficial in providing useful questions with correct answers. Also choose 3 judges.
