This webinar looked at the types of jobs for entomologists available at the EPA and present perspectives from different experience levels and different divisions. Panelists talked about the types of experiences and qualifications looked for in these roles.

Three Hosts in an (Arthro)Pod-cast: How Three Entomologists Communicate Their Love of Insects

Drs. Jody Green (UNL), Jonathan Larson (UK), and Michael Skvarla (PSU) discussed their journey in science communication including how they communicate their interests in entomology, how they started their podcast, and other venues in which they practice science communication. They are currently affiliated in Extension programs at their respective universities, but they are also co-hosts of “The Arthro-Pod Show,” a podcast dedicated to all things insects and other arthropods! Submission Deadline - Early Career Professional Recognition Symposium

This juried symposium will feature four presentations of Student Transition and Early Professional members of ESA, one from each Section, who will be selected to give a 30-minute feature presentation describing their research programs in this special symposium. Additional information will be required, including an abstract, 1-page cover letter, and CV. Winners will receive a $500 travel stipend. 

Submission Deadline - Rising Stars of Entomology Student Award Symposium

Awards will be granted to five master’s students and five doctoral students from each ESA Section (two from P-IE) to showcase their research in the Rising Stars of Entomology Award Symposium (RSEAS) at the ESA Annual Meeting. This award is intended for graduate students who are near the end of their programs. Students will have the opportunity to expand upon their research beyond the restrictive 10-minutes of the student competitions and gain valuable experience for future career presentations.
