Grant Funding Levels
The amount of funding available in any year is determined by donations to the Chyrsalis Fund and then set by the ESA Education and Outreach Committee. The same scoring rubric is used for reviewing all applications. The three levels for grant applications are:
- Micro-grants (less than $500)
- Regular grants ($500-$999)
- Large grants ($1,000-$2,500)
Application and Reporting Requirements
All grants must include the following to be considered. Applicants should use the approved Chrysalis Fund Grant Application and submit through our funding portal to ensure that all needed information is included. Elements required for all grants include:
- Grant application
- Primary point of contact identified
- Primary institution identified (e.g., Jane Doe Elementary School)
- Project description
- Age range identified
- Plan to present the results of the project at an ESA Branch or Annual Meeting, which may include a poster or virtual presentation if recipient is unable to attend in person
Micro-grant reporting requirements:
- Summary report (1 page minimum)
- At least one photograph of the finished project/product/activity/etc.
Regular grant reporting requirements:
- Summary report (1 page minimum)
- Lesson plan, set of instructions, or similar guiding document for future educators to use
- At least three photographs of the finished project/product/activity/etc.
Large grant reporting requirements:
- At least one project update report as progress for the project elapses
- Lesson plan, set of instructions, or similar guiding document for future educators to use
- Summary report (2 page minimum)
- At least three photographs of the finished project/product/activity/etc.
- Video of the project/product/activity/etc.
- Impact statement from no fewer than three students
