ESA is soliciting nominations for the governing board, branch, and section vacancies listed below. Members interested in serving in one of these capacities should complete the ESA Election Nominations Form by June 1, 2025.
ESA Election Nominations Form
ESA Vice President-Elect
The presidential line is a four-year commitment. The President has a special duty to establish an open working environment, think and act strategically, and position ESA for future successes. The President will work closely with the Executive Director throughout the year. Various committee leadership roles are served by those in the presidential line.
Board members attend four primary meetings per year (two virtual, two physical) and other meetings as needed. Additionally, each member of the presidential line is a member of the Executive Committee which generally meets in months when the full Board does not. Each Board meeting will require advance preparation by reading and understanding the materials provided.
Any ESA member in good standing may stand for office, however nominations for the Vice President-Elect requires the support of a Branch, Section, or petition of 10 members.
ESA Treasurer
The Treasurer chairs the finance committee and works closely with staff on all matters related to finance. Board members attend the four primary meetings per year (two virtual, two physical) and other meetings as needed. Additionally, the Treasurer is a member of the Executive Committee which generally meets in months when the full Board does not. Each Board meeting will require advance preparation by reading and understanding the materials provided.
Any ESA member in good standing may stand for office, however nominations for Treasurer requires the support of a Branch, Section, or petition of 10 members. The Treasurer serves a three-year term and can be re-elected one time.
Pacific Branch Representative to the Governing Board
Representational Board members serve a liaison role to ensure open communications between the Society and Branch. Board members attend four primary meetings per year (two virtual, two physical) and other meetings as needed. Each Board meeting will require advance preparation by reading and understanding the materials provided.
Any Pacific Branch member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. Board members agree to serve a three-year term and can be re-elected one time.
Southeastern Branch Representative to the Governing Board
Representational Board members serve a liaison role to ensure open communications between the Society and Branch. Board members attend four primary meetings per year (two virtual, two physical) and other meetings as needed. Each Board meeting will require advance preparation by reading and understanding the materials provided.
Any Southeastern Branch member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. Board members agree to serve a three-year term and can be re-elected one time.
ESA Early-Career Representative to Governing Board
Representational Board members serve a liaison role to ensure open communications between the Society and the Early-Career Professional Member community. Board members attend the four primary meetings per year (two virtual, two physical) and other meetings as needed. Each Board meeting will require advance preparation by reading and understanding the materials provided. Additionally, the representative serves on the Early-Career Professionals Committee, which meets monthly.
Any Student Transition or Early Professional member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. The Early-Career Representative serves a three-year term and can be reelected one time.
International Branch President-Elect
The President presides over all meetings of the International Branch members and Branch Governing Board. Governing Board members participate in monthly conference calls and one in-person meeting held during the ESA Annual Meeting.
Any International Branch member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. The presidential line is a three-year commitment.
International Branch Treasurer
The Treasurer is the financial officer of the Branch, shall have oversight of all accounts, securities, property, and records of the Branch; and shall perform such other duties as are prescribed by the Governing Board. Governing Board members participate in monthly conference calls and one in-person meeting held during the ESA Annual Meeting.
Any International Branch member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. The Treasurer serves a three-year term and can be reelected one time.
International Branch Early Career Professional Member-at-Large
The Member-at-Large represents the interests of early-career professionals to the International Branch Governing Board. Governing Board members participate in monthly conference calls and one in-person meeting held during the ESA Annual Meeting.
Any International Branch Student Transition or Early Career member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. Members-at-Large agree to serve a two-year term.
MUVE Section Vice President-Elect
The President presides over all meetings of the Section members and Governing Council. Governing Council members participate in monthly conference calls and an in-person business meeting held during the ESA Annual Meeting. Various committee leadership roles are served by those in the presidential line.
Any MUVE Section member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. The presidential line is a four-year commitment.
MUVE Section Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for record keeping, including meeting minutes from each Governing Council meeting. They are also responsible for enforcing rules of discussion when necessary. Governing Council members participate in monthly conference calls and an in-person business meeting held during the ESA Annual Meeting.
Any MUVE Section member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. Governing Council members agree to serve a three-year term and can be reelected one time.
MUVE Section Representative to the Governing Board
Representational Board members serve a liaison role to ensure open communications between the Society and Section. Board members attend four meetings per year (two virtual, two physical) and will participate in other meetings as needed. Each Board meeting will require advance preparation by reading and understanding the materials provided. The Representative serves on the MUVE Governing Council, which meets monthly.
Any MUVE Section member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. Board members agree to serve a three-year term and can be reelected one time.
P-IE Section Vice President-Elect
The President presides over all meetings of the Section members and Governing Council. Governing Council members participate in monthly conference calls and an in-person business meeting held during the ESA Annual Meeting. Various committee leadership roles are served by those in the presidential line.
Any P-IE Section member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. The presidential line is a four-year commitment. The third or presidential year typically requires at least 100 hours of service to the Section.
P-IE Section Secretary
The Secretary captures and disseminates Governing Council meeting minutes and other items requested by the President. Governing Council members participate in monthly conference calls and an in-person business meeting held during the ESA Annual Meeting. Various committee leadership roles are served by those in the presidential line.
Any P-IE Section member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. Governing Council members agree to serve a three-year term and can be re-elected one time.
P-IE Representative to the Publications Council
The ESA Publications Council provides strategic and visionary leadership for the publications program. The Council sets strategic goals and metrics for the ESA publications and provides oversight for individual publications and the enterprise to ensure that goals are met.
Council members meet annually at the ESA Annual Meeting and several additional times virtually per year. Each Council member is expected to prepare for and actively participate in these meetings as well as in email discussions and votes.
Any P-IE Section member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. Publications Council representatives agree to serve a four-year term.
PBT Section Vice President-Elect
The President presides over all meetings of the Section members and Governing Council. Governing Council members participate in monthly conference calls and an in-person business meeting held during the ESA Annual Meeting. Various committee leadership roles are served by those in the presidential line.
Any PBT Section member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. The presidential line is a four-year commitment.
PBT Section ECP Representative to the Governing Council
The Early Career Professional (ECP) represents the interests of early career professionals to the Section Governing Council. Section Governing Council members participate in monthly conference calls and committee work as assigned. The Representative also serves on the ECP Committee of the ESA.
Any PBT Section Student Transition or Early Career member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. ECP representatives agree to serve a three-year term.
SysEB Section Vice President-Elect
The President presides over all meetings of the Section members and Governing Council. Governing Council members participate in monthly conference calls and an in-person business meeting held during the ESA Annual Meeting. Various committee leadership roles are served by those in the presidential line.
Any SysEB Section member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. The presidential line is a four-year commitment.
SysEB Section ECP Representative to the Governing Council
The Early Career Professional (ECP) represents the interests of early career professionals to the Section Governing Council. Section Governing Council members participate in monthly conference calls and committee work as assigned. The Representative also serves on the ECP Committee of the ESA.
Any SysEB Section Student Transition or Early Career member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. ECP representatives agree to serve a three-year term.
SysEB Section Student Representative to the Governing Council
The Student represents the interests of student members to the Section Governing Council. The Student Representative recruits and organizes student volunteers for SysEB events at annual ESA meeting. Governing Council members participate in monthly conference calls and an in-person business meeting held during the ESA Annual Meeting. Various committee leadership roles are served by those in the presidential line.
The role of Student Representative must be someone currently enrolled at least half-time as a student in an educational institution.
Any SysEB Student member in good standing may stand for office and can self-nominate. The Student Representative serves a two-year term and is limited to one term.
