Beaty Biodiversity Museum at the University of British Columbia Activities during the 2018 Joint ESA, ESC and ESBC Annual Meeting



We are delighted to offer multiple opportunities to visit the Beaty Biodiversity Museum during the 2018 Joint Annual Meeting. Take time to visit the only Entomological Collection in Vancouver during this year’s meeting, below are all your options:

Complimentary Admission: The Beaty Museum is offering complimentary admission for all Annual Meeting attendees. Just show your badge for complimentary admission and enjoy all of the exhibits and events taking place during your visit.

Museum hours are 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM Tuesday – Sunday (closed holidays and Mondays) and is located on the UBC campus at 2212 Main Mall. The museum will be closed on Sunday, 11 November. Directions to the museum: http://beatymuseum.ubc.ca/visit/hours/

Curatorial Tour of the Beaty Biodiversity Museum

Fee: $36 USD │ $45 CND

Calling all collections enthusiasts! Join us for a unique opportunity to tour the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, a natural history museum located in the Beaty Biodiversity Centre at the University of British Columbia (UBC). This will be your opportunity for a behind-the-scene’s tour with Karen Needham, Assistant Curator of the Spencer Entomological Collection as well an in-dept museum tour of the collections.

The museum houses over two million specimens including the Cowan Tetrapod Collection, the Marine Invertebrate Collection, the Fossil Collection, the Herbarium, the Spencer Entomological Collection, and the Fish Collection. The collections focus in particular on the species of British Columbia, Yukon, and the Pacific Coast.

Sign-up via the Annual Meeting registration system. Fee includes transportation between the VCC and the UBC Campus, admission to the museum, an in-depth tour of the collections, as well as behind the scenes access to wet and dry prep labs.
